Today’s trailers feature different technology because times are forever changing and because they serve different purposes. In addition to ensuring your trailer works for you, it’s about longevity – we all want our trailers to last. At Colorado Trailers, we take pride in making sure our trailers will serve you. Having a trailer that lasts also means choosing the right one for your needs. Thinking about how you will use your trailer will help you determine which one is best for you.
Below, we’ve compiled a list of trailers we have on our lot, and we go through things to consider before buying a trailer.
Consider your tow vehicle
Now, let’s consider a few basics! You more than likely already own a truck or SUV that’s powerful enough to tow your trailer, but it’s always a good idea to check the GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) of your vehicle and your trailer to ensure they’re compatible. Simply put, this number is the maximum weight that’s permitted when fully loaded.
Budget
Creating and sticking to a budget is important when searching for any kind of trailer, especially if this is your first trailer. It will be easier to come up with a budget once you decide the size of the trailer you need and any features that come along with it. If you need it for your business, it’s worth having a higher budget, because it will more than likely grow over time and that extra space will not go unused. But, if you’re needing a trailer for your ATV or anything that you plan to have for years to come, you’ll probably be able to slide by with purchasing just enough space.
Use
This might be clear to some, but purchasing the right size trailer depends on what you plan on using it for. Maybe you’re using it for your own small landscaping business. If so, you might get away with purchasing a smaller trailer than someone who wants to haul their ATV or golf cart from place to place. Let’s talk about a few uses for trailers!
- Off-road trailers built tough and our true off-road trailers. You can set them up for hauling, camping and even work! These kinds of trailers are usually up for any type of challenging terrain and can really keep up with the roughest of roads. Check out our inventory of off-road trailers here.
- Work trailers are slightly simpler in that they don’t have the suspension and heavy-duty materials of off-road trailers. Choosing the best work trailer with the right structure can make all the difference in the flow of your business. Will you need extra weight capacity? Should you purchase a larger trailer if you expect your business to grow? These are questions to consider when buying a work trailer.
- Multi-purpose trailers are designed with some cool features! You’ll have choices like windows, insulation, air conditioning, power and so much more if you’re looking at these. They’re made to be your year-round, all-purpose trailer – giving you so much in return.
- Travel trailers are great for those who do lots of highway traveling, because these are made with certain types of axles that immensely improve your towing system, regardless of your tow vehicle. Check out our inventory of travel trailers here
